Description

Estabelecida no arrabalde da vila, esta capela, fundada nos finais do século XVI, com os donativos dos moradores de Monsaraz com o propósito de servir as festas religiosas e os cultos dominicais, foi aglomerada no perímetro abaluartado seiscentista.

De estrutura simples e retangular, divide-se em dois planos distintos, que correspondem à nave e à capela-mor, contando, ainda, com uma sacristia adjacente a estes dois corpos. A nave é coberta por abóboda de berço e a capela-mor é revestida por cúpula, que se encontra decorada com pintura mural, realizada em 1629, com símbolos do padroeiro: a mitra, o cálice, o báculo e a cruz de Aviz.

​A fachada principal encontra-se dividida em dois assentamentos, estando ladeada por contrafortes. No primeiro foi rasgado o portal, de moldura retangular, contornado por duas janelas do mesmo formato.
